Want some help with finding percents. Not out of 100 cause I know that already but If you have 60 problems and got 10 wrong what was the percent you missed?

OpenStudy (ashtorah13):

I used to be able to do them and I just cant remember for the life of me.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

83%

OpenStudy (ashtorah13):

I dont want an answer I want to know how to do it. lol but thanks

OpenStudy (ashtorah13):

With out a calculator that is.

OpenStudy (mathmale):

form the ratio 10/60. Multiply this fraction by 100% and you'll have your answer. 83% is not correct as the percentage of question missed. Rather, it represents the percentage of questions that you got right.

OpenStudy (mathmale):

10 wrong means 10 missed, and vice versa. form the ratio 10/60. Multiply this fraction by 100% and you'll have your answer.

OpenStudy (ashtorah13):

That would be 1000/6000, do I just reduce after that?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

If those are your numbers, fine. 1000/6000 would represent 1000 miessed out of 6000. The result would be exactly the same as (10/60)*100%.

OpenStudy (ashtorah13):

OH you mean divide 10 and 60 then multiply by 100?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

10/60 is a ratio; if you do this division on a calculator, you obtain 0.1666666.... , which is still not a percentage. If you want a perecentage, you've got to multiply this 1/6 or 10/60 or 0.166666... by 100%. Try it, please, and round off your result to no more than 2 decimal places.

OpenStudy (ashtorah13):

17%
