OpenStudy (korosh23):

How to solve for x ? 20 = 100 (1/2) ^x/5730 Note: This is an exponential function.

OpenStudy (korosh23):

\[20 = 100 (1/2)^\frac{ x }{ 5730 }\]

Directrix (directrix):

Are you permitted to use an online calculator for this, or are you supposed to crank out the answer by hand?

OpenStudy (korosh23):

Actually I know how to find the answer using graphing calculator, but I don't know how to do it algebraically or by hand?

OpenStudy (korosh23):

so using a graphing calculator, the value for x is 13304.648. We have to solve it in a way that the value of x algebraically matches that.

Directrix (directrix):

On my calculator, I got 8266.6 for x.

Directrix (directrix):

Look at this: http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=20+%3D+100*(1%2F2)+%5E(x%2F5730)

OpenStudy (korosh23):

I used my textbook answer. It is ok I will ask this question from my teacher later. Thank you for willing to help :)
