This can be solved quite simply.

OpenStudy (maddy1251):

12/15 = 8/x What we are going to do, is cross multiply, and then divide

OpenStudy (maddy1251):

Cross multiplying can be used as such;;

|dw:1458946788561:dw|

OpenStudy (maddy1251):

So, for this case, we will do 8 x 15 = ?

OpenStudy (maddy1251):

this should yield 120 as your answer from cross multiplying. After this, we will then divide by the remaining number, and in this case, it is 12.

OpenStudy (maddy1251):

120 / 12 = 10.

OpenStudy (maddy1251):

Whenever you have proportions trying to find a missing value, just cross multiply, and then divide. This will yield the answer of 'x'.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thank you

OpenStudy (maddy1251):

To check to see if this is correct, just divide 12/15 and 8/10, to see if n=n

OpenStudy (maddy1251):

Each should yield 0.8. You are welcome. :-)
