OpenStudy (lilkg77):

If f is an explanatory variable and g is the corresponding response variable, which of these would be represented by the vertical axis on a scatterplot? A. g B. Both f and g C. Neither f nor g D. f

OpenStudy (lilkg77):

How do u know @Tgannon998

OpenStudy (joshiscool):

@caseysorensen

OpenStudy (reemii):

"\(f\) is an explanatory variable of \(g\)" means that you are trying to "explain" the value of \(g\) using (given) the value of \(f\). => value of \(g\) given value of \(f\) => \(g(f)\). => \(g\) is on the verticla axis.

OpenStudy (reemii):

It is similar to the usual functions: \(f(x)\) is "value of \(f\) at point \(x\) (or "given \(x\)").

OpenStudy (lilkg77):

Thanks @reemii for the help!

OpenStudy (reemii):

yw lilkg :-)
