Question?

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Just find the slope. Start at the origin (0,0). Move 10 units to the right. How many units from (10,0) must you move upward before you hit the blue graph?

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

blue.. graph?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Yes. I assume you have already found (10,0), on the x-axis. From that point, move straight upward until you touch the blue graph. What is the y-value there?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

(10,0) is the point on the x-axis 10 units to the right of the origin (0,0). Got that?

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

Yes, but don't you mean the red arrow or line?..

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Oops. Yes, I do mean the red line.

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

Oh :). I got... 5? Would it be .5 since 5 is the half of ten? Not sure?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Yes. Perfect. I'd say the slope is 1/2, but your 0.5 is fine too. THAT is your "constant of proportionality." same thing here as "slope."

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

:)!

OpenStudy (mathmale):

:)!

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Very nice! Gotta go, but looking forward to next time we work together. Good job.

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

Ok, thank you so much.
