Intermediate Algebra, simplifying complex fraction with exponents
Any help is appreciated, I'm having a hard time understanding this concept. If someone could please explain, preferably step-by-step, I would be internally grateful. Thank you
do you know what negative exponent means?
That's kinda what I don't get :P What should I do with the negative exponents?
use x^(-1) = 1/x 3xy^3 ( ------ )^(-3) *( y^(-2) z^4 ) = z^(-1) 3xy^3 z^4 = ( ------ )^(-3) * ( ---- ) = 1 y^2 --- z ( 3xy^3 )^(-3) z^4 = ( --------------- ) * ( ----- ) = 1 y^2 ( ----- )^(-3) z 1 ( --------- ) (3xy^3)^3 z^4 = ( -------------- ) * ( ----- ) = z^3 y^2 1 z z = ( ---------- ) * ( ---- ) = ----------- 27x^3y^9 y^2 27x^3y^11
Thank you very much for the help! I know there were some rules involved with negative exponents and your explanation helped a lot <3 I'll study this a bit more, a lot of my class didn't get this including me x_x
