I need an explanation, I am doing similar polygons. I am not understanding what you do with the scale factor. For example: POLYGONS ABCD & EFGH ARE SIMILAR. WHAT IS THE PERIMETER OF EFGH WHEN AD = 12, BC = 8, FE = 15, FG = 10, and GH = 5? The first polygon is ABCD and the second is EFGH.

OpenStudy (mrnood):

If the shapes are similar then all the sides remain in the same proportio to each other SO you need ot identify which sides correlate IF (for example) AD is the equivalent side to FE then oyu can see that the scale factor is 15/12 = 1.25 ALL the sides will scale by the same amount so the perimeter will also scale by the same amount. (BTW - you refer to these as polygons - but you only give 2 side lengths - are they by any chance 'parallelograms'??)
