Long division help: I was wondering if anyone could help me out with these 3 problems. Thank you :) Use long division to find the quotient. 1) (m2 – m + 6) ÷ (m – 3) 2) (n2 + 10n + 18) ÷ (n + 5) 3) (6b2 – 17b + 12) ÷ (3b – 4)

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

okay so lets start with #1 okay?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright. :)

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

@piercethesirenss come back IM HERE

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

okay so #1 ever heard of synthetic division?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes I have I know how to do synthetic division, but ive always gotten so lost with long division

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

okay ill show you number one and we will do #2 together okay?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

awesome thanks !

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

ill ask you questions along the way but m=1m right? they just dont put the 1 but is there

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

just like x=1x y=1y a=1a etc got it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright got it

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

okay so lets make the synthetic chart what is your divisor ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it m-3?

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

yes correct

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

but this is the part you need to remember m-3 will be +3 when you plug it into the chart its going to be the opposite got it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

got it, so positive 3

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

okay lets just say we had x+4 what would we plug into the chart?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-4?

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

great you are catching on

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

so when making the chart put 3 in the corner|dw:1459279758646:dw|got it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes got it

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

whats your divined ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

m^2-m+6 , right?

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

yup|dw:1459279987141:dw|see what i did here?
