You can either plug in each of the options into the equation and see which ones fit, or you can try to solve the equation.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
HOW DO U PLUG IT INTO THE EQUATION

OpenStudy (welshfella):
ok take the first option 7/5
replacing the x by 7/5
we have
25 * (7/5)^2 - 50(7/5) + 21
work that out using your calculator and see if it comes to 0
If it does you've found the correct option.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
i got 0
OpenStudy (welshfella):
but are you familiar with the process of solving these equataions?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
i think i do now
OpenStudy (anonymous):
its the same for the other ones too?

OpenStudy (welshfella):
yea 7/5 is one solution.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
i tried B and also got 0
OpenStudy (welshfella):
you can do same with the others yes.
When i mean solving I'm talking about factoring the equation or using the quadratic formula.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
no i do not
OpenStudy (anonymous):
are A and B the only options

cuz those are the only 2 i got
OpenStudy (welshfella):
OK well you have finished.
These quadratic equations ( where you have x^2 as highest degree) have 2 roots
OpenStudy (welshfella):
luckily the first 2 were the correct roots.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
are those the only 2?
OpenStudy (welshfella):
yes

all the other ones were not 0
OpenStudy (anonymous):
i just want to check
OpenStudy (anonymous):
tyvm
OpenStudy (welshfella):
you neednt check the rest cos you have found the roots already.
OpenStudy (welshfella):
yw

it factors to (5x - 3)(5x - 7) = 0
so x = 3/5 , 7/5

Check all that apply.
x2 + 14x + 40 = 0
A. -5
B. -10
C. 10
D. 5
E. 4
