DNA ligase can be precisely called as Molecular glue. That means it is responsible for joining nucleotides or small pieces of DNA, forming large strands of DNA. It is used wherever you can think of DNA replication, such as during mitosis, and in forming a recombinant DNA such as in Recombinant DNA Technology.
BTW ligase comes from "Ligation"
