Can somebody please check if I solved this correctly? Problem: Sammy incorrectly solves the equation 1/3(x+9)=8. Her work is shown below. A. Which step shows an error based on the equation only from the previous step? Select all that apply. A) Step 1: 1/3x + 9= 8 B) Step 2: 1/3x = 8+9 C) Step 3: 1/3x = 17 D) Step 4: x= 5 2/3 B. What is the correct solution to the original equation? My answer: x=15 My work: 1/3(x+9)=8 1/3x + 3= 8 1/3x + 3 - 3= 8-3= 5 1/3x= 5 5* 3/1= 15/1 x=15

I already did A i just want to know if I solved B correctly

OpenStudy (shirley27):

Yes i think you did

OpenStudy (anthonyym):

Yes you did it right. For equations you can plug the value of x you found back into the equation to check if it you did it right.

OpenStudy (anthonyym):

And also you should right (1/3)x because writing 1/3x might make someone look at it as 1/(3x)

thanks @Shirley27 and @anthonyym I appreciate your help!

Your're welcome:)
