What are the coordinates of the vertices of the triangle under the translation (x, y)-->(x - 1, y - 3) A) (5,-4), (0,0), (5,4) B) (-8,0), (-1,-1), (-4,-5) C) (0,-8), (-1,-1), (-5,-4) D) (-4,5), (6,0), (4,5) https://tisd3080-hs-ccl.gradpoint.com/Resource/9515325,0/Assets/testitemimages/geometry_b/transformations/mc014-1.jpg
can you identify the coordinates for each of the three vertices?
The ones before the translation.
The ones just as you see them in that graph.
yes i can
You are going to take each of the points (x,y) in plug them into (x-1,y-3) for example if one of the points were (2,-3) then you would have after the translation (2-1,-3-3) and you can simplify this (1,-6) This was just example... (2,-3) was not one of the vertices before the translation.
notice in my example I just replace x with 2 and y with -3 in (x-1,y-3) to get the point after translation
so if one point is (0,2) it would be (0-1, 2-3) making it (-1,-1)
that's right
so that narrows your choices down to B and C so pick another point to eliminate one of those choices
point (-3,-2) would be (-3-1,-2-3) and would go to (-4,-5)
yep looks good so you should have your answer now
yes I got (-8,0), (-1,-1), (-4,-5)
great job
that is correct :)
thank you(: I think I got it now.
