The box plot below shows the total amount of time, in minutes, the students of a class surf the Internet every day: A box plot is shown. The left-most point on the plot is 20 and the right-most point is 95. The box is labeled 35 on the left edge and 60 on the right edge. A vertical line is drawn inside the rectangle at the point 55. Part A: List two pieces of information that are provided by the graph and one piece of information that is not provided by the graph. (4 points) Part B: Calculate the interquartile range of the data, and explain in a sentence or two what it represents. (4

your in flvs?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i did this before wait

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for the first part i dont understand but for the second i can help

OpenStudy (scoobydo):

ok thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do u know how to find IQR

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well to find IQR you do q3 - q1.

OpenStudy (scoobydo):

can u just tell ne the answer please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that means you subtract the lower quartile from the higher one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

SO that means subtract 60 - 35

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so what does that give

OpenStudy (scoobydo):

25

OpenStudy (anonymous):

SO that means that 25 is the IQR, understand?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

CAn i have medal

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hello?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can i have a medal

OpenStudy (scoobydo):

there is a part c but it didn't show up one sec

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (scoobydo):

Part C: Explain what affect, if any, there will be if an outlier is present

OpenStudy (anonymous):

DO you know how to find outliers?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To find outliers you multiply the first quartile by negative 1.5

OpenStudy (scoobydo):

no can u explain

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And than if any number is smaller than the number that it gives

OpenStudy (anonymous):

those are considered outliers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and than u mulitply 1.5 to the 3rd quartile

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and anything highe than that number is considered an outlier

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so for this problem what is quartile 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Are you there?

OpenStudy (scoobydo):

yes whats the answer don't explain just tell me please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i cant do that thats against code of conduct but ill explain fast

OpenStudy (scoobydo):

ok fast

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so first you multiply 0.5 times 30(q1) which gives you 15 and there is nothing lower than 15 then you multiply 1.5 times 60 which gives 90 which means that 95 is and outlier because that is higher than 90.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now can i have medal

OpenStudy (anonymous):

pls

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thx
