OpenStudy (ejayy12):

The slope of a line is -3. Find the slope of a line that is perpendicular to this line. a.-3 b.-1/3 c.1/3

Nnesha (nnesha):

perpendicular slopes are negative reciprocal of the original one. Parallel lines have the sam slope if the slope of the original line is a/b then the perpendicular slope would be `-b/a` flip the fraction and change the sign and parallel slope would be the same `a/b`

OpenStudy (ejayy12):

but there aren't any positive answers

Nnesha (nnesha):

given slope is `-3` so what would be the perpendicular slope ?

OpenStudy (ejayy12):

+3?

Nnesha (nnesha):

first write -3 as a fraction -3 is same as `-3/1` now flip the fraction and change the sign.
