Contaminated water can be caused by many things, overflow of bodies of water, pollution, and many others. It can effect an individual by the consumption containing an illness the body is not used of. Contamination can happen at any time, under specific conditions. Diseases can spread from mammal to mammal, but also in other ways. The presence of contaminants in water can lead to health effects, including gastrointestinal illness, reproductive problems, and neurological disorders. Infants, young children, pregnant women, the elderly, and people whose immune systems are compromised because of AIDS, chemotherapy, or transplant medications, may be especially susceptible to illness from some contaminants.
