I need help with finding the surface area of the rectangular prism (below) A = 4x^2 +12 B = 3x^2-6 C = 2x^2-2

OpenStudy (whynotstudyalone):

It is defiantly not drawn to scale xD Anyway, here are my answer choices: A) 9x^2 + 4 B) 12x^2 + 20 C) 14x^2 + 12 D) 18x^2 + 8

OpenStudy (xxstudyingstuffxx):

Just faind the area of A, B, and C. Multiply that by two. The product is your answer.

OpenStudy (whynotstudyalone):

I don't understand

OpenStudy (xxstudyingstuffxx):

What is the area of face A?

OpenStudy (whynotstudyalone):

Is 4x^2 + 12 the area?

OpenStudy (xxstudyingstuffxx):

What are the dimensions of it (the base and height)?

OpenStudy (whynotstudyalone):

I think C is the height and B is the base. Am I right?

OpenStudy (whynotstudyalone):

@eyesnapper

OpenStudy (whynotstudyalone):

@freckles

OpenStudy (freckles):

there are two faces that have area A there are two faces that have area B there are two faces that have area C So @XxStudyingStuffxX said to find the surface area just add up all the face's areas you will have A+B+C+A+B+C or 2A+2B+2C or 2(A+B+C)

OpenStudy (xxstudyingstuffxx):

OpenStudy (xxstudyingstuffxx):

The dimensions are A = 4x^2 +12, B = 3x^2-6, and C = 2x^2-2.

OpenStudy (whynotstudyalone):

So D!

OpenStudy (whynotstudyalone):

Thanks a lot both of you!

OpenStudy (xxstudyingstuffxx):

No problem.

OpenStudy (whynotstudyalone):

@XxStudyingStuffxX Could you medal freckeles I'll medal you!

OpenStudy (xxstudyingstuffxx):

I did.

OpenStudy (whynotstudyalone):

lol I just realized! Thanks!

OpenStudy (xxstudyingstuffxx):

Close the question when you are done.

OpenStudy (whynotstudyalone):

yeah :)
