Will Medal!!! Please help me understand! Braxton loves to download new music. He originally had 41 songs but plans to purchase 4 new songs each week. He wants to know how many songs he will have after 110 weeks. Which equation should he use? a110 = 41 + 4(110 − 1) a110 = 41 + 4(110 + 1) a110 = 110 + 4(41 − 1) a110 = 110 + 4(41 + 1)

OpenStudy (photon336):

so he starts off with 41 songs right? and every week he purchases 4 new songs s = number of songs w = number of weeks \[s = 41+4w \]

OpenStudy (alexishope47):

Right. I got that but the 110-1 and the 110+1 are throwing me off. My gut says 110-1 but I don't know why.

OpenStudy (faiqraees):

Options are wrong, I guess

OpenStudy (photon336):

yeah, are you sure those are your options?

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

mhm what @Photon336 said is correct but im not seeing the option

OpenStudy (alexishope47):

Positive

OpenStudy (photon336):

The other two don't make any sense. because remember the number of songs increases by 4 each week after. so my guess is that you would subtract 1 from it. not sure.

OpenStudy (alexishope47):

Ok. Thanks. I'll try it and see what happens. Thanks for your help.

OpenStudy (photon336):

yeah let me know how it goes

OpenStudy (alexishope47):

I got it right :) Thanks again for the help

OpenStudy (photon336):

No problem. so I guess the rationale was that 41 is the number of songs he had the first week. week one

OpenStudy (alexishope47):

Right. Which make sense they just never said that in the question so it was confusing.
