James has decided to start saving for a cruise over the summer. His money is currently in the local bank, modeled by the function s(x) = 102. He is able to do work around the neighborhood to earn extra money and that function would be a(x) = 8(x + 2), where x is measured in hours. Explain to James how he can create a function that combines the two, and describe any simplification that can be done. @imqwerty
are you sure about this "s(x)=102" is there no "x" term on the right side?
okay so "s(x)" is his money in bank and "a(x)" is the money earned by workin around in neighborhood if we combine(add) the two equations we will get the total money he has and we would get something like this on the left when we combine->"a(x)+s(x)" we can simply write them as "t(x)" we can also write "p(x)" or whatever its upto you :) and "t(x)" will denote the total money he has and "x" is in hours try doing this and try to simplify the equation that u get
102+8(x+2) so like this? then simplify that?
yes open that bracket
118+8x?
or 8x+118
both will work fine :)
Thanks :) last 2
