Anyone read Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare?

I have to write an essay for my class answering the question: Is Brutus a patriot or a betrayer?. This is my opening paragraph, can you revise/tell me how i can make it better? thanks!

Was Brutus a betrayer or patriot? That is the question! Many people struggle to realize if Brutus killed Caesar as a patriot of Rome or a betrayal of friendship. Brutus was a great friend of Caesars, and he also cared for the future of Rome. If Brutus really was good friends with Caesar, he would have talked it out first. But Brutus killed Caesar because he wanted the best for Rome.

I would definitely change some of the wording, but first I would advise that you write a stronger thesis statement.

The first sentence has to catch the attention of your readers so maybe present a question or statement that makes your reader want to continue and grabs their desire to read what you have to say.
Example: What really was Brutus to Rome and its leader? Many have thought that Brutus was a traitor to both friend and country; however, some would challenge this long held theory. Those chosen few who hold another view have said that even though he cared for Caesar deeply that he also worried about the future of his country. So, was he really a traitor if what these chosen few say is true?

Once you have what is called "an attention getter" then outline what you think (whether you believe that Brutus was a traitor or a patriot; and afterwards begin your essay as you try to show your evidence for your theory.
