Can someone please help me with two math questions? They are really easy... I will fan and give a medal!

OpenStudy (helpkay):

ok what you got

MsBrains (ms-brains):

Sure! :)

OpenStudy (abbycross167):

9. Estimate the height of a sliding glass door in meters. 10. Estimate the weight of medium-sized microwave oven in kilograms.

OpenStudy (mrnood):

A glass door is taller than the average adult - but less than the very tallest person How tall is a typical tall man (in metres)? that's a good 'estimate' A gallon container of drinks or water weighs about 4 kg - can oyu lift that easily? If you tried to lift a microwave oven would it be a LOT heavier or a BIT heavier...? Make you estimate based on that

OpenStudy (abbycross167):

man's height = about 6 ft 6 ft to meters= 1.8288

OpenStudy (abbycross167):

I'm sorry it took so long for me to reply, my Wifi was messed up

OpenStudy (mrnood):

OK - I'd say a door is a bit taller than a 6 ft man - so how about you round that UP?

OpenStudy (abbycross167):

to 7?

OpenStudy (mrnood):

No round up th emetres...

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

@MrNood it kind of depends on who is lifting the oven. xD

OpenStudy (abbycross167):

so 7 ft= 2.1336 meters

OpenStudy (mrnood):

Of course it does - that's why I said 'can you lift 1 gallon easily... It also depends on the oven - but it asks for an ESTIMATE. Feel free to give a better way to start if you like.

OpenStudy (mrnood):

@abbycross167 No I meant take 6ft = 1.83m but round that up to a 'round' number of metres

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

@MrNood I know I was joking. Your comment was funny though.

OpenStudy (abbycross167):

oh ok so that's all I have to do for question #9?

OpenStudy (mrnood):

what value did you choose? 7ft is too tall

OpenStudy (abbycross167):

6 ft

OpenStudy (mrnood):

man's height = about 6 ft 6 ft to meters= 1.8288 BUt you need to make this higher - a 6 ft man can easily walk through a door just round up the METRES to a round number

OpenStudy (abbycross167):

so 1.82m rounded up = 2m?

OpenStudy (mrnood):

That seems a good estimate to me 2m is about 6'6" so it falls in the range of ' a tall man can walk through it'

OpenStudy (abbycross167):

okay awesome so that would be the answer to number 9?

OpenStudy (mrnood):

there is no absolute 'right answer' since it asks for an estimate. In my book that is a good estimate.

OpenStudy (abbycross167):

yes sir/ma'am, thank you. Would you happen to know what the weight of medium-sized microwave oven would be?

OpenStudy (mrnood):

It asks YOU teo estimate it. Have you ever tried to lift one?

OpenStudy (abbycross167):

no sir I have never seen one so I was just asking if you knew... Like how many lbs it might be

OpenStudy (mrnood):

Never seen one? Where are you from?

OpenStudy (mrnood):

I suggest you Google "microwave oven weight' there are some good typical weights given there

OpenStudy (abbycross167):

yes sir, thank you for all your help
