Help please? Given a directed segment with end points A(3,2) and B(6,11), what is the point that divides AB two-thirds from A to B?

Do you know how to find midpoint? This is pretty similar to that

Isn't it x1 + x2/2 and then the same for y?

OpenStudy (marihelenh):

Yes, that is how to find midpoint. If we are looking for the two-thirds point between the two, then first divide by 3 instead of 2. $\frac{ x _{1}+ x _{2} }{ 3 }$

OpenStudy (marihelenh):

Good, that indicates one-third. If we are going for two-thirds, just multiply both by 2.
