i need help simplifying radicals

OpenStudy (wach):

To simplify radicals, we break down the number 'in' the radical into factors that can be simplified out of the radical. For example, rad(8) -> rad(4 x 2). Since the square root of 4 is 2, we can take it 'out' to make 2 rad(2).
