MsBrains (ms-brains):

A message to all the OpenStudy Mod wannabes, Can you guys like chill? Honestly, you guys think you are doing good, but you are just making people hate you. It's okay to kindly ask people to close a spam post, not demand them to close it, and threaten to get a mod to ban them. .-.

MsBrains (ms-brains):

When I see a spam post, I just kindly ask/suggest they close it, if they don't want to get into trouble. But nope, apparently that is not how it goes on OS, What? nobody is allowed to have fun on OpenStudy? Take the April fools day pranks everyone was pulling as an example. Did anyone notice how many of you got angry? Just Chill. You all spammed the spammers asking them not to spam. Wth? xD Guys, relax.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol this has been a struggle for awhile

OpenStudy (anonymous):

they are very specific and everybody will get...bossy if you will

OpenStudy (mahoganie.carson):

I agree @Ms-Brains :)

OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):

Well said Ms-Brains. I appreciate someone finally trying to get people to stop spamming LOL Well done/well said ;3

OpenStudy (smile.89745):

I agree with you

Atsie (atsie):

@Ms-Brains Amen!

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

Agreed! http://openstudy.com/code-of-conduct "Don't spam! Common forms of spam include: Posting a reply that is not relevant to the topic of discussion within that question." Therefore comments telling people to close their post can be considered spam! O_O It's best to kindly message, or just report and ignore :3 Great message @Ms-Brains ! ^_^

umerlodhi (umerlodhi):

agreed

OpenStudy (fortytherapper):

Exactly. You know what else is funny? I see those same "Holier-Than-Thou" people posting spam that don't relate to OpenStudy. Im reading it now, about smartscore milestones and... Birthdays? That's not feedback on this site. I believe they should step off they're pedestal and follow what they slam in people's face instead of believing they are exempt from this rule

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

@FortyTheRapper There was an agreement among the mods and the community a while ago that SmartScore milestones, holidays, and birthday posts are allowed to be up in the OpenStudy Feedback section (but only for 24 hours, or before then if medal partying might be a problem).

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

"Congratulation posts are actually considered spam... But we do tolerate them for a day, for a few occasions: - achieving a smartscore of 99 - a user's birthday - some kind of holiday - special achievement (like getting an award for something school related) Another rule - Only 1 post per user, the rest can congratulate the user in that post, no need to create a separate one. So 3 different posts congratulating someone for getting a smartscore of 75 do not qualify." ~ Thomaster source: http://openstudy.com/study#/updates/54c991d4e4b0cbe47c8b985d

:D

OpenStudy (bloodtearangel):

AMEN THANKYOU

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How, can you read my mind?

OpenStudy (mrcoolguy):

so true @Ms-Brains

MsBrains (ms-brains):

I have that special power I guess ;) xD @JoannThomas

MsBrains (ms-brains):

So true! @FortyTheRapper I guess most of the people on here are a little hypocritical, aye? xD

MsBrains (ms-brains):

Thank you so much for those! I wish most people would follow, and abide those rules. :) @sleapyhead314

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:P

OpenStudy (fortytherapper):

@sleepyhead13 24 seconds or 24 hours, So the mods agreed for spam? Why not just make a separate section for that? Seems targeting/discriminatory to have certain people's spam allowed, as opposed to the other perhaps, lower smart score users

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

@FortyTheRapper (and anyone else who has such concerns) If you believe someone's post or comment is spam, feel free to report it - I make sure to look at every single report that comes through the system. So even if your problem might not be taken care of immediately, you can be rest assured that I will look at your report within a few days at lastest :) Thank you! ^_^

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

mhm

OpenStudy (fortytherapper):

Jiggly, reporting the whole OpenStudy "Feedback" section would be inefficient. I guess I'm just not getting two things: The hypocrites and the allowance of Facebook status type posts

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i agree

OpenStudy (samsungfanboy):

FINALLY, SOMEONE STOOD UP AND SAID SOMETHING!!! I totally agree!! Thankyou!

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

@FortyTheRapper The exemptions for facebook-like posts are listed above by sleepyhead. Preetha is also alright with some types of such posts http://prntscr.com/aoibvc If you feel like something is obviously spam, please report it ^_^ This does not include 'the whole OpenStudy "Feedback" section'.

OpenStudy (fortytherapper):

Again, I still think it would be inefficient. Even if it's not the whole section, I would need spare food and razor blades with shaving cream so I'm not a human suffering from starvation while looking like a bum, since it would take that long to report the spam the moderator wannabes post themselves. Is a "Support" or "Miscellaneous" section created? If so, sorry. If not, I wouldn't mind suggesting it

OpenStudy (photon336):

I guess it would have to depend on what the post is. It's probably best to kindly warn the person to begin with as @ms-brains said. People can report you as much as they want but if a Mod has determined that you didn't violate OS code of conduct, you didn't violate anything. To an extent, I agree with @FortyTheRapper I don's see as many real suggestions or feedback related posts here. But I guess if they approved birthday posts, and congratulatory posts then that's fine.

OpenStudy (fortytherapper):

I just see it as "Approved spam, but don't allow spam" What if I used this comparison analogy: The speed limit is 45. Going 50 is ok, but going 51 will give you a $500 ticket

candycove (candycove):

pooja195 (pooja195):

Well said.

MsBrains (ms-brains):

Thanks! ^-^ @pooja195

OpenStudy (marcoreus11):

100% agree with u

OpenStudy (iluvsoccer):

AMEN!!! :D
