3. Find the value of x. Round to the nearest tenth. A) 16.4 B) 14 C) 11.5 D) 34.9 I've got the triangle sorted out to the letters ABC *something my teacher tells us to do* but I don't know which one to use the SOH-CAH-TOA. Please help!

@CasidyCat

OpenStudy (anonymous):

use sin

563blackghost (563blackghost):

You are given the hypotenuse which is 20 as well as the side opposite of the angle so we have the hypotenuse and the opposite side so you will use sine...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which means Sin = opp/hyp

563blackghost (563blackghost):

Remember: If the number is in the numerator of the fraction you will divide the number by the sin....if the number is in the denominator then you will multiply by sin

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You have the side opposite to the angle, and the hypotenuse. SOH is opposite over hypotenuse, so sin35=x/20. Multiply each side by 20, giving you about x=11.47

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=20sin35

So the answer is C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep

I'd give you all medals if I could. Oh my. Thank you guys so much. I now know how to figure it out easier. Thank you all for your help and helping me understand it better.

563blackghost (563blackghost):

Np ^^
