OpenStudy (dancing_stars23):

Which of the following pairs of vectors sum of their magnitudes does NOT equal the magnitude of their sum?

OpenStudy (dancing_stars23):

OpenStudy (dancing_stars23):

Allowed to pick more than one option

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

Find each of the magnitudes and add them together, for each pair of vectors. Find the vector sum for each pair of vectors first, then find the magnitude.

OpenStudy (dancing_stars23):

So for the first one would it be \[\sqrt{56}\]

OpenStudy (dancing_stars23):

and then \[\sqrt{104}\] @agent0smith so the first answer would be marked as no

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

I don't know, be more clear about what you're working out. What is sqrt56? 1. The magnitude of A is sqrt20, and B is 6, so the sum of their magnitudes is 6+sqrt20 Their sum is (2, 10) so the magnitude is sqrt104, clearly not equal to 6+sqrt20. Do the same for the others.
