Do you have notes? what is the formula for the area of a circle ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

huh?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

notes for what

OpenStudy (phi):

what is the formula for the area of a circle. Most people memorize it, but if you haven't it, you must have been shown it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

28?

OpenStudy (phi):

the formula is A= pi r^2 where for pi they suggest you use 22/7 (this is close to its true value) and r is the radius. They show you a circle and its diameter. How long is the diameter in your problem ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

idk thats what im confused about

OpenStudy (phi):

the line that goes through the middle of the circle is the diameter. what number do that put next to it ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do u know the first step

OpenStudy (phi):

yes, the first step is to read the number from the picture they show you. that is the length of the diameter. What number do they show?

OpenStudy (phi):

after you can read the number for the diameter, you need to figure out the radius. The radius is the distance from the center to the edge of the circle. The radius is ½ the diameter . So find ½ of the diameter. can you do that ?
