How was the Civil Rights Movement both violent and nonviolent? Which do you feel was more effective ( know the differences between Martin Luther King and Malcom X)

OpenStudy (mathishardforme1234):

Well there was Mahatma Gandhi who chose nonviolent ways to rebel against the British Empire which controlled India (Where he lived) at the time. He was jailed several times and then it came to an end when someone assassinated him. Today India is free from Britain.

okay but that has nothing to do with the question...

OpenStudy (mathishardforme1234):

It was violent because there were people who did not like civil rights leaders and they either killed them publicly or assassinated them. It was also nonviolent because most people agreed with the civil rights leaders such as when Martin Luther King Jr. did the march on Washington. He had many people join arms and they went up to the Lincoln Memorial.
