OpenStudy (hurlimanduncan9696):

which of these is a collective noun (1 point) A. cattle B.caravan C.them D.boxcars I think D am i right?

OpenStudy (saucvi):

Collective nouns describe a group of individuals. And can be replaced with singular and plural pronouns. Because it deals with individuals, aka people, I'd say it isn't A nor D.

OpenStudy (hurlimanduncan9696):

Would you say C then? @saucvi

OpenStudy (saucvi):

I see the easy confusion, but no. I'd say it is B. Because they can be replaced with pronouns (like them in many cases) I would say it is not going to already originally a pronoun. B is historically known as a group or people who travel together.

OpenStudy (hurlimanduncan9696):

Thanks for your help! could you help with this one also which of these words has the same denotative meaning but different connotative meanings than the word mediocre ordinary inadequate lacking or superb ?

OpenStudy (saucvi):

Do you know the difference between denotative and connotative?
