@dako87 I have a question. what do you think? Why do the neighborhood children all wave at Louie's cousin as the police drive by with him in the back seat? http://esl-bits.net/ESL.English.Learning.Audiobooks/Mango_Street/10/default.html

OpenStudy (dako87):

Well from what i think 1 the car is stolen but the family doesn't know it 2 the car is a status symbol. 3 In a world where many things are taken for granted, Esperanza is really grateful for anything she gets to do. She hopped in the bright yellow Cadillac without questioning. She finds the best parts of life and uses them; she does not miss an opportunity to have fun. Even the neighborhood children enjoy the ride Cadillac. Esperanza was grateful for the ride because she had a great time; something that people take for granted. At one point during the ride, “Louie’s cousin said he was going to make us walk home if we didn’t stop playing with the windows or touching the FM radio” Esperanza had never seen automatic windows or a radio that was that special, so it was no wonder that she had to say thanks. When the cop drove away with Louie’s cousin they had to say bye, but they could not say anything to him, so the wave they gave was a silent “thank you” and a goodbye at the same time.

but mostly the third one

Thanks :)
