Light of wavelength 550 nm falls on a slit that is 3.70 ✕ 10-3 mm wide. How far from the central maximum will the first diffraction maximum fringe be if the screen is 12.0 m away?

OpenStudy (samigupta8):

Do you know the formula for that? asintheta=(2n-1)lambda/2 a is the slit width..n can go from 1,2,...so on..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I tried to use the formula \[y_n = (n+1/2)*L*\lambda/a\] where n = 1, L = 12, lambda = 550x10^-9, and a = 3.70x10^-6 but it didn't work

OpenStudy (samigupta8):

Is the ans 0.891 m

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No???? where did that come from

OpenStudy (ian_sage015):

OHH college stuff... funnnnnn
