Please help, will fan and medal! If f(x) = (x + 7)2, which of the following is g(x) based on the translation? g(x) = (x + 9)^2 g(x) = (x + 5)^2 g(x) = (x + 7)^2 + 2 g(x) = (x + 7)^2 − 2
For clarity, please use the symbol ^ to denote exponention: x2: NO x^2 YES
Okay I'm sorry for the confusion
I fixed it @mathmale
I have to go in 2 minutees
I just want the answer hurry
please
Note:- the whole graph is translated down 2 units
The key word in this is translation. You're looking to move the elements some-how on the grid. As such, you're either going to be moving them up or down the Y axis, and/or right or left along the X axis. As such, you need to know will change when you change a value. Since the equation you're aiming at is y=Ax^2+Bx+C you need to know what each value does to interact with the curve. The A value changes the width of the curve, the B value changes what value the parabola intersects with the Y axis. C adjusts where on the Y Axis it intersects. Your two functions are aligned vertically, which means it's a translation along the Y axis, which means the value you change is C. Since your equation is y=(x+7)^2+0x+0 (these numbers don't need to be expressed) you know that you're adjusting the Y Axis, so you're going to be changing the value of C. f(x)=(x+7)^2+0x+0 f(x)=Ax^2 +Bx +C Positive translates upwards, negative translates downwards. Since g(x) is down 2 on the grid, you're going to be subtracting 2. f(x)=(x+7)^2-2 Any non-variable added at the end of an expression, such as (x^2+3x+10x^5)+2 will translate the equation along the Y Axis.
