Haymarket Square was striking workers protesting in favor of and 8 hour day. Somebody threw dynamite. Cops had to disperse the crowd. 8 protesters died. The Homestead strike involved the Union occupying the steel plant, gun battles, dynamite, Pinkerton agents, an assassination attempt and the State militia. One of the most violent labour protests. The Pullman strike was a nationwide strike by Railroad workers. The shut down the trains for awhile. Credit Mobilier was a scandal involving the owners of railroads.
