OpenStudy (isaiah.feynman):
So, when you increase the sides of the prism by 3 the volume increases by 3 cubed.
OpenStudy (isaiah.feynman):
Or it increases by 27

It says scale factor is 3, so it's talking about a dilation. That means you are multiplying each side by 3 to get the new figure.

OpenStudy (anthonyym):
That is the new image. You multiplied each side by 3.
OpenStudy (anthonyym):
5mm * 3 = 15mm
7mm * 3 = 21mm
2mm * 3 = 6mm

Now to find the VOLUME, it's length*width*height. The volume of the new image will be 15mm*7mm*4mm

OpenStudy (anthonyym):
Alright I gave you the answer already, which is 15mm * 7mm * 4 mm. Now multiply those numbers. The unit will be \[mm^3\] because you multiply mm*mm*mm.
The volume after multiplying those 3 numbers is 420 \[420 mm^3\]
