OpenStudy (aveline):

What the genotype for a plant with a purple stem and cut leaves? What about a plant with a green stem and potato-type leaves?

OpenStudy (tinash):

I don't know how to do the punnet square @Aveline

OpenStudy (aveline):

I can help you with the punnet square. Do you know the genotypes though?

OpenStudy (tinash):

Thanks. I honestly don't.

OpenStudy (tinash):

I think if we do the punnet square we can find the genotype?

OpenStudy (aveline):

Well, the allele for a purple stem is P and is dominant. For a green stem, it is p, which is recessive. The allele for a cut leaf is C, which is dominant. The allele for a potato-type is c, which is recessive. A plant with a purple stem and potato-type leaves would have the genotype: Pc Can you figure out the genotype for a plant with a purple stem and cut leaves? What about a plant with a green stem and potato-type leaves? To make a punnet square, we must first know the genotypes of the parents.

OpenStudy (tinash):

Oh okay , here give me one min to try and figure it out :)

OpenStudy (tinash):

PC for purple stem and cut leaves pc for potato-leaves

OpenStudy (tinash):

Yes :)

OpenStudy (aveline):

The upper left and lower right are incorrect. Remember, we need to have one of each letter.

OpenStudy (tinash):

Wait that's confusing so is it meant to be the left by the top to get the answer

OpenStudy (tinash):

Because those answers are one of each letter

OpenStudy (aveline):
