Each figure is a square with a side one dot more than the figure number. Figure 1 has sides of 2 dots. 2^2 = 4, so 4 dots. Figure 2 has sides of 3 dots. 3^2 = 9, so 9 dots. Figure 6 has sides of 7 dots. 7^2 = ?
