Okay which short story or poem did you choose?
what kind of essay is ther teacher looking for
this is the prompt. each essay has to be at least 16 sentences. idk which one to do.
Alright hold on one second
these are the stories to choose from @jameshorton
Your essay needs to include the following elements: 1. The name and author of a story or poem that you read in Unit 3 in the introductory paragraph. 2. Identify the “darker action” in your thesis statement. Example: Although each of these selections contain dark actions, _________ in _____ is the darkest action. 3. Paragraph 1 should contain a CITED summary of the specific "dark action." (Who, what, when, where) 4. Paragraph 2 should contain an explanation of the motivation that caused the person to commit this "dark action." Make certain that you give specific CITED details from the story to show why the character acted in this manner. 5. Your conclusion should summarize your points and include explain Explain what the story might be like if the character chose to do something better instead of doing the more evil action
I chose the most dangerous game to right about. The dark action would have been that General Zaroff started hunting humans instead of animals to make the hunting game "interesting"
ok. could you help me with the second one some?
as in the second essay
I didn't do that one I only had to do the one but sure

In Shirley Jackson’s “The Lottery,” the theme of the story is dramatically illustrated by Jackson’s unique tone. Once a year the villagers gather together in the central square for the lottery. The villagers await the arrival of Mr. Summers and the black box. Within the black box are folded slips of paper, one piece having a black dot on it. All the villagers then draw a piece of paper out of the box. Whoever gets the paper with the black dot wins. Tessie Hutchinson wins the lottery. Everyone then closes in on her and stones her to death
Tessie Hutchinson believes it is not fair because she was picked. The villagers do not know why the lottery continues to exist. All they know is that it is a tradition they are not willing to abandon. In “The Lottery,” Jackson portrays three main themes including tradition, treason, and violence. The main theme in Jackson’s “The Lottery” is tradition. Jackson conveys tradition as the main theme thought the story. “The people had done it so many times that they only half listened to the directions; most of them were quiet, wetting their lips, not looking around.” (966). The author suggests the people of the village have been playing the lottery for several years. “The people had done is so many times... they only half listened to the directions” suggests that the people of the village have played the lottery so many times that they only half listened to the direction
I agree with that with withheld info because in the lottery the author doesn't tell what the stones are for until the end and he also doesn't tell the reader the purpose of the papers. I also agree with the second one because The tone of the article by Edgar Allan Poe in the cast of amontillado was sinister things to the use of a detached in eccentric narrator whom the reader could not trust completely I would say shocking twist would go to the most dangerous game because nobody expected Rainsford to kill General Zaroff in the very end leaving the readers shocked. I'm not really sure about foil I'm sorry
ok. you still helped a lot with the others. i guess it would have to be probably the raven? idk
Can you explain what foil is please?
@HannahC234
Im still not sure about foil let me look in my notes
ok
All I found was in lierary terms foil is used in a literary context, and when used to describe a character, it means that that character serves to highlight one or more attributes of another character, often the protagonist, by providing a contrast
I'm sorry I could help with the last one
I hope you do great on your test please email me when you are finished ^_^
ok. i will. :)
You're the best ;)
