The formula for the total area of the regular hexagonal pyramid is this: TA = 1/2 * p * L + B where p is the perimeter of the hexagonal base, L is the slant height, and B is the area of the hexagonal base.
So TA = 1/2 * 16 * 6 + 4?
No. The base is a hexagon with 6 sides, each of length 4. The perimeter of the base is not 16. Try again for the perimeter of the base.
24
I gotta go, I'll be back tomorrow morning at about 9 a.m PST.
TA = 1/2 * 24 * 6 + B The area of the base is not 4.
I'll be back tomorrow, gtg
Okay.
Hey, I'm back
The area of a hexagonal shape can be found with the following formula:\[Area=\frac{3\sqrt{3}}{2}a^2\]Where a is the side length.|dw:1460480909206:dw|
And 24 is correct for the perimeter.
\[Area=\frac{3\sqrt{3}}{2}(4)^2\] Think you can solve for the area?
41.57
Correct. \[TA = \frac{1}{2} \times (24) \times (6) + (41.57)\]
2993.04
That looks right (:
@Mehek14 can you help finish this?
@ganeshie8
@welshfella Can you help?
I just need the equation for the answer, we've got everything else I think.
the area for the base is correct 41.57 and the area of the 6 triangular sides = 1/2 * 24 * 6 = 72
just add these 2 togther
oh it looks like they want an exact answer in surd form
Oh shoot, we multiplied the area of the base rather than added it.
the area of the base = 24sqrt3 so total area = 72 + 24 sqrt3
yea ADD not multiply
