Well, the US wasn't very involved in the war before Japan bombed Pearl Harbor.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
So the reason that Japan bombed Pearl Harbor is because the US (President Roosevelt) imposed a ban on trade of oil, iron, and steel. This made Japan angry and therefore, attacked Pearl Harbor (There were some other reasons, but this is the main reason and the reason that most schools will teach)
