I have a friend who celebrated his 20th birthday at the battle of Iwo Jima. (Yes, he's an old guy) He lost a lost a lot of friends taking that island. He was in on a couple of others but Iwo was the worst he says.
After that, his unit was scheduled as one of the first to land on the main island of Japan. There wasn't much hope for most of them to live through it.
Then they heard that President Truman had made a decision that saved their lives. A bomb wiped out Hiroshima. Then another did the same at Nagasaki. They landed in Japan as an occupying force. Japan, the aggressor, lost a big chunk of their population and ability to fight.
But American lives were spared. My friend Bob is happy to have been able to come home.

But i do know to that that the Japanese went to the united states and did some thing to the us army soldiers and then the us army went to their land and bomb it and also the bomb was called little boy and the bombing was so bad after the bombing the Japanese had there skin falling off because of the bombing some of the Japanese died the bomb burn them to deaf it took them a long time to build things back up and it was hard to find treatment for the ones who were living.
