OpenStudy (shesolitt):

I will medal and fan, PLS HELP Which of the following expressions is the inverse of the function y = 3x + 4? y = 3x − 4 y = –3x − 4 y equals quantity x minus 4 divided by 3 y equals quantity x plus 4 divided by 3

OpenStudy (shesolitt):

@mathstudent55

RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):

so to find the inverse you have to switch x and y and then get y alone again

OpenStudy (shesolitt):

I got C, I JUST WANTED TO CLARIFY @RhondaSommer

RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):

so \[y=3x+4\]changes to\[x=3y+4\]thensubtract3y from both sides and you get \[-3y+x=4\]then subtract x from both sides and you get\[-3y=-x+4\]and then divide -3 on both sides to get y alone and you get\[y=\frac{x}{3}-\frac{4}{3}\]

RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):

so you are correct :)

OpenStudy (shesolitt):

THANK YOU ! (: can you help me with one more please? @RhondaSommer

RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):

yeah sure :) do you want me to do the same thing like i did on this one and completely explain it or no?

RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):

just post it as a new question.
