solve the system. 4(3x + y) + 2z = -7 3(x - 4y + 2z) = -16 3(5 + 3x) = -4(z - 4y)

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

get all in standard form first so x+y+z=?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im not sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Distribute the numbers into the parentheses first. So for 4(3x + y) you would distribute the 4 into 3x and then into y, making it 12x + 4y Then do that for all the parentheses

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And for 3(x - 4y + 2z) you distribute the 3 into each coefficient, making it 3x - 12y + 6z Can you try that for the last one?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have to go so try to do that and hopefully someone else will help you with the rest

Did you understand the distribution?
