Volume of a cylinder is?

OpenStudy (shaleiah):

pir^2h

OpenStudy (shaleiah):

When I plug in the formula, I get: 502.65

OpenStudy (anonymous):

502.65=(pi)*(4^2)*(10), right? What's 20% converted to a decimal? 0.2 and thus, a 20% increase to x would be x*1.2 So it's 502.65*1.2=603.18 So now the volume is 603.18 What part of the previous equation (pi)*(4^2)*(10) is constant, and what part of it is being changed?

OpenStudy (shaleiah):

10

@ijakez

Yep! so 603.18=16*pi*(the new height) So simply divide both sides by 16pi to find the new height. 603.18/16pi=12 yay!

OpenStudy (shaleiah):

Wait... I got something different.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is your calculator in degrees? should be radians

OpenStudy (shaleiah):

118.434

PEMDAS! 603.18/16pi=12 Parenthesis? None Exponents? None Multiplication? 16*pi BEFORE you divide. You're dividing 603.18/16 and then multiplying the answer by pi. Instead, you divide 603.18/(16*pi), if the parenthesis help.
