OpenStudy (19rutlehop):

It won't let me upload my image but there are two triangles and the first triangle is the same as the second but bigger so The big triangle Length and Width is 18 cm =L and 10 cm =W And the second triangle L=x and W= 5 cm Please try to figure out :) I will trophy !!

OpenStudy (phi):

the smaller width is 5 the big width is 10 what do you multiply 10 by to make it 5 ?

OpenStudy (19rutlehop):

2?

OpenStudy (phi):

or if you like equations k*10 = 5 what is k ? one way to "solve for k" is divide both sides by 2

OpenStudy (phi):

2*10 is 20 that is not what you want how about ½ ?

OpenStudy (phi):

½ * 10 = 5 right ? now use that same factor to figure out the short triangle's Length

OpenStudy (19rutlehop):

So confusing. So 1/2 is the answer? Or are we getting there?

OpenStudy (phi):

Not too confusing. the little triangle's sides are all ½ the size of the big triangle's sides

OpenStudy (19rutlehop):

God damn... You are probably explaining this perfectly well but I'm to freaking slow to figure this out. Please forgive me.

OpenStudy (phi):

please don't swear

OpenStudy (phi):

If a problem is hard, try a simple one "to practice on" what is ½ of 2 ?

OpenStudy (19rutlehop):

1

OpenStudy (19rutlehop):

is the answer 9?

OpenStudy (phi):

you want ½ of 18 yes 9 is the answer

OpenStudy (19rutlehop):

how do I medal you?

OpenStudy (19rutlehop):

nvm
