Which is an example of the second Great Awakening's influence on society? A. More people went to art galleries and took painting lessons. B. More people became concerned for their health and joined fitness clubs. C. More people doubted their ministers and stopped going to church. D. More people joined the antislavery and women's rights movements.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So, the Second Great Awakening was a Protestant revival that took place in the 1700s and 1800s. and since there were not really art galleries or fitness clubs, we can get rid of those first two options.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Since this was a religious revival, I would get rid of the third option too. During a revival, the mass populous does not turn away from the Church. it just is not recorded in history. so that option is definitely out. However, it has been noted many times the participation of women and black people during this. and Christian principals of love and care were emphasized during this. Based on that information, only one option makes sense.

Here's a good article I found on the Second Great Awakening! Good luck with your class! :) http://www.ushistory.org/us/22c.asp

OpenStudy (fluttershyk):

The movement influenced democracy and abolitionism which made the people take a stand on slavery and unfairness in the society. so the answer is C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

^That is option D...

OpenStudy (fluttershyk):

oh opps that's what I ment

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's not C because of the fact that it was a revival. Revivals cannot take place without people standing with the church and the ministers.
