Why did W.E.B. Du Bois criticize Booker T. Washington? A). He criticized Washington’s passive and cautious ways. B). He criticized Washington’s aggressive and violent methods. C). He criticized Washington’s wavering and changing views. D). He criticized Washington’s extreme campaigns that involved hunger strikes. E). He criticized Washington’s radical methods that refused segregation of races.

OpenStudy (fluttershyk):

Washington and Du Bois were both African American civil rights activists. Washington wasn't as aggressive compared to Du Bois in recognizing the rights and freedoms of African Americans. Sometimes, he leaned more towards the views of whites since he was so passive. He simply beats around the bush. Therefore, Du Bois was infuriated and lashed out on Washington. He didn't bring about much progress as compared to Du Bois.
