Review the amendments to the Constitution. In at least three well written paragraphs, identify the three amendments which you think have the greatest impact on your life and discuss the reasons for your choices. In a fourth paragraph, write a 28th amendment that you think should be proposed and ratified. Provide reasons for your amendment.


I would say that Amendments 15 and 18 have had the greatest impact on my life because they have had the greatest effect in protecting democracy in the United States. Amendment 15 is telling that the states that citizens cannot be prevented from voting on the basis of race, color, or if the person had been a slave. The 18th Amendment is know as prohibition. It banned the manufactured, sale, or shipment of alcoholic beverages.

If I was to wright a 28th Amendment, the 28th Amendment should be the lowering of the drinking age to 18. If we are legal adults at 18, why wouldn't we be able to crack open a cold one and chill? Also, we can vote at 18 so I think we are old enough to make our own decisions, and make smart choices.


At the same time, lowering the drinking age could be hazardous. As someone who grew up with an alcoholic and drug abuser, it is a very scary thought that people would be able to drink earlier. Something that would also be a good Amendment would be to bring up the age on when you can join the army and vote, although that would severely mess up the voting system.
