I need help finding the maximum y-value of a function without graphing it.

we can use the unit circle to figure this out. |dw:1460665376376:dw|
so right away we know that cosine's maximum value is going to be 1 from the unit circle, and we multiply that by 2 the number in front of the equation to get the maximum value
