WILL GIVE A MEDAL, FAN, AND ONE OWL BUCK FOR RIGHT ANSWER!
Ms. Soar flew 220 mi in 1.6 h. She then landed at the Aspen Airport to visit a friend. In the second portion of her trip, Ms. Soar flew 312 mi, which took 2.2 h. What was her plane’s average speed for the entire trip?
Quick please!
First we would find the individual speeds per hour for the first and second trip... So to find the unit rate for the first trip we divide the total miles over hours... \(\Huge{\frac{220mi}{1.6h}=unit~rate}\) We do the same for the second... \(\Huge{\frac{312mi}{2.2h}=unit~rate}\) What would be the unit rate for the first half and the second half of the trip? By the way what you find is not the final answer...
Do we add both of the unit rates to get the answer?
Yes we would add both and then divide by 2...
Okay
I got 139.659091
Well it should only be 139.65 but yea that is the right answer....so she travels at an average speed of 139.65 miles per hour...
Thanks!
