will medal

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@welshfella

Arcadiouse (arcadiouse):

Okay So.

Arcadiouse (arcadiouse):

You are trying to simplify/cancel out certain letters or numbers in each equation. Lets start with 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so

Arcadiouse (arcadiouse):

in 1. to get rid of -1 what do you do?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

add it...?

Arcadiouse (arcadiouse):

Yes!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that didnt make 2. tho

Arcadiouse (arcadiouse):

So that means you will add 1. Which answer do you put as 1. No? because -1 + 1 = 0

OpenStudy (welshfella):

where you have say - 1 on left side of equation then you add 1 if you have a positive number on left side you subtract the positive number eg if you add 3 + x then you subtract 3 - or putting it another way ,add -3.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I still dont get it @welshfella how 2m=3m gets to number 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@welshfella

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@welshfella

Arcadiouse (arcadiouse):

@sheyennepowell_ You add +1 to the 3m. What ever you do to the left side, you must do to the right side.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but it would be 4m? @Arcadiouse

Arcadiouse (arcadiouse):

No. It would be 2m = 3m +1

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

got it??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know that but thats not 2. !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Arcadiouse are you going to help me?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@welshfella please help

Arcadiouse (arcadiouse):

Yes. Oh, you want help with question 2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am saying that number 2 in that picture is supposed to be the product of what we got in number 1.

Arcadiouse (arcadiouse):

Yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and its not so what @Arcadiouse

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I REALLY NEED HELP OMG

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@welshfella

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@welshfella

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its been a half an hour

OpenStudy (anonymous):

really aggravated

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you kidding me @welshfella

OpenStudy (welshfella):

i'll do the first one for you 2m - 1 = 3m the first step is to get the terms with m on right side to do this we subtract 2m for both sides 2m -2m - 1 = 3m - 2m so the first one pairs up with 'subtract 2m' what you need to do is isolate the variable on one side of each equation

OpenStudy (welshfella):

3. m - 1 = 2 here you add 1 m - 1 + 1 = 2 + 1 m = 3 so this pairs up with add 1
