If you double the arc measure of a sector, will the area of the sector also double? Include your answer and an explanation

OpenStudy (tylermckinney16):

OpenStudy (mathmale):

What are your own thoughts about this possibility? How is the area of a sector of central angle x and radius r calculated? Should the angle be given in radians or in degrees?

OpenStudy (tylermckinney16):

I am not sure

OpenStudy (tylermckinney16):

@mathmale

OpenStudy (tylermckinney16):

It will?

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

Think about a slice of pizza. The arc length is the length of the crust. If you had two slices, the same size, then you've doubled the arc length (add the length of the two crusts together). It should be easy to decide if the area of two slices of pizza is double the area of one.

OpenStudy (tylermckinney16):

Ok cool so is that what i should put as the answer?

OpenStudy (tylermckinney16):

@agent0smith

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

Not necessarily, I was just helping you understand it...
